All American City
This June, Statesville was awarded the honor of being an All American City by the National Civic League for the 2nd time.  The last time the city was honored was in 1997.  Contrary to what some may believe, this is a moment to be proud of what our citizens, business leaders and elected officials have accomplished for all of us.  There have been many that have said “Yes, that’s great, but what about all the other problems?”  Well, being an All American City does not mean that we are without problems, what is does mean is that we are working on solving the problems that do exist.

Times are tough for alot of people out there and Statesville residents have made it there mission to help aleviate some of the hardships that exist and help close some gaps.  The presentation in Tampa Florida presented the forward steps Statesville has taken to help the homeless with the new Fifth Street Ministries Shelter, help the children with the new Boys and Girls Club and help bridge the cultural divide with the Mia Familia Institute.  Even in these tough economic times, the citizens of Statesville reached into their pockets to raise millions for these projects because it will make a difference to our city.

I for one am proud to call myself a resident of Statesville!
