Statesville Schools


Living in Statesville NC offers many options for education from public schools, to private options to Higher Education.  Having the right schools is a major factor in deciding where to live and knowing your choices are key to making that decision.  No child is the same and having a variety of options to fit their learning ability and level is critical.

With more than 20,000 students, Iredell-Statesville Schools ranks among the 20 largest school districts in North Carolina. The average teacher in the district has 15 years of teaching experience and current student-teacher ratio is 15.8 to 1.  Student performance continues to improve, placing Iredell-Statesville Schools among the top 25% of school districts in the state. In fact, SAT scores, graduation rate, and writing scores are among the best in North Carolina. As a district committed to quality and a 2008 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Iredell-Statesville Schools serves as a model school district not only for other districts in North Carolina, but also across the entire nation.

Iredell-Statesville Schools Visual & Performing Arts Center (Early College and Magnet Program)
Whether students simply want to explore their artistic talents in upper-level courses in the magnet program or begin the journey toward a degree in fine or performing arts in the early college, the Iredell-Statesville Schools Visual & Performing Arts Center (VPAC) has challenging courses for any arts-minded high school student

Collaborative College for Technology & Leadership
A unique collaboration between Iredell-Statesville Schools, the Mooresville Graded School District, and Mitchell Community College, the Collaborative College for Technology & Leadership (CCTL) is a five-year program that enables high school students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an associates degree.

North Carolina Virtual Public School
Open to both middle and high school students, the North Carolina Virtual Public School (VPS) enables students to complete both core and elective courses using a convenient, online format. The VPS not only offers general core classes, but also a wide range of honors, Advanced Placement, and SAT prep courses. Courses can be taken in the school setting, or even from home. (This opportunity is available to any student in Iredell County, including home-schooled children; however, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses.*)

East Iredell Elementary School     (Transfer Request Form)

Newly renovated and expanded to include Pressly Elementary School, East Iredell Elementary will serve not only as a technology magnet school featuring 21st century classrooms, but will also be home to the district’s first and only dual-immersion language program. The technology magnet is available to all students in grades K-5; however, the English/Spanish dual-immersion program is available only to rising kindergarten students. Additional grades will be added in subsequent years.



Statesville is also home to a wide selection of excellent  private school options.  There are many websites out there to rate private schools and find additional information but the best way is to talk to the parents of children that attend the school.

Academy of Excellence– Academy Of Excellence is located in Statesville, NC. It is a private school that serves 18 students in grades 2-12. Academy Of Excellence is coed (school has male and female students) and is Christian (no specific denomination) in orientation.

Statesville Christian School–  Statesville Christian School is located in Statesville, NC. It is a private school that serves 236 students in grades PK,K-12. Statesville Christian School is coed (school has male and female students) and is Christian (no specific denomination)

Cornerstone Christian Academy-Cornerstone Christian Academy is located in Statesville, NC. It is a private school that serves 70 students in grades PK,K-12. Cornerstone Christian Academy is coed (school has male and female students) and is Assembly of God in orientation.

Crossroads Christian School– Grades 1-12.  Christian (No denomination). Coed with 22 students.

Statesville Montessouri School– We are a co-educational independent school made up of two campuses.  We provide a unique learning experience for children in Preschool through Eighth grade and also provide before and after-school care.

Southview Christian Academy–  Statesville’s Southview Christian School is a private school. It is coed and Baptist affiliated, serving 133 students in grades PK-12.

Calvary Christian School– Grade 4-10, Coed, non denomination.



Success Institute Charter School– Grades K-8.  Success Institute Charter School is a state funded charter school whose focus is to motivate and enhance learning through innovative teaching techniques in order to inspire all students to reach their full potential academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

American Renaissance School– Grades K-8.   Our K-8 school is striving to provide our community with the best possible education and learning experiences.  Our five core values:  Academic Excellence, Integrity, Safety, Support and Respect are at the heart of all that we do.

Mitchell Community College – Mitchell Community College, founded in 1852, is a comprehensive, open-admissions community college dedicated to meeting the post-secondary education and training needs of the citizens of Iredell County and surrounding areas.  Locations in Statesville and Mooresville NC.

Gardner Webb University. Gardner-Webb University, a private, Christian, Baptist-related university, provides outstanding undergraduate and graduate education that is strongly grounded in the liberal arts while offering opportunities to prepare for various professions.

Also within driving distance are major universities of University of NC-Charlotte, UNC-WInston-Salem, Wake Forest, Appalachian State and NC State.
